To put the performance of the machine in perspective, Thomas P. D’Agostino, the administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration, said that if all six billion people on earth used hand calculators and performed calculations 24 hours a day and seven days a week, it would take them 46 years to do what the Roadrunner can in one day.
WOW!!! [NYTIMES]

By the time Speed Racer is smashing this summer´s box offices I thought it might be nice to finish a tutorial I started about a year ago :-) It´s a small people tutorial and the renderings are far from photoreal but it gives you and idea of what can be done in post production…
Open this Links First :
http://www.cgarena.com/freestuff/tutorials/max/procarpaint/index.html
The images above are done from ONE SINGLE 3D rendering session providing all the passes we need to change pretty much everything in post without re-rendering in 3D which can eat production/render time when the customer is a bit moody with his decisions...
The layers I rendered as well as the After Effects Project file are all featured in this tutorial and can be downloaded here: Project and Render Files
I wouldn´t go any deeper into After Effects or provide the Max file since this an intermediate compositing tutorial. You can read about Ambient Occlusion, Falloffs and Blend Options in your Max/After Effects Help yourself ;-p No basics covers, I´m sorry. So let´s go!
Step 1: This tutorial works with simple tricks! Nesting Compositions into each other and setting Mattes (called knock out layers) with alpha and falloff passes we rendered. We start with a new Composition and drag the Ambient Occlusion rendering into it. An additional added Brightness&Contrast can be used to eventually adjust the layer to have more or less AO going on.
Step 2: Our base coat layer, believe it or not, consists of two color solids! I add Hue/Saturation to both of them and adjust the colors to my desire by shifting the color, saturation and lightness. Having 2 different color solids creates the chamelion look later ;). I use the Carpaint Falloff rendering to blend them nicely into each other. An additional Brightness &Contrast can be used to modify the hardness of the Falloff.
Step 3: Since the color Solids are still full screen we need to use a matte to cut out the car body. Drag the whole Base Color composition into a new composition and use the Carpaint Mask rendering as Luma Matte. The Carpaint Mask is actually a B/W rendering with a white self-illuminated material applied to the car body. The rest of the scene has a black self-illuminated material applied. The result is a nice mask.
Designing the Incredible Hulk

Designing the Incredible Hulk
Character designer Aaron Sims talks about the production process of The Incredible Hulk and the creative decisions behind the look of the Hulk and Abomination.
June, 14th, 2008, by Raffael Dickreuter
Hulk designed by Aaron Sims for the 'The Incredible Hulk'.
Tell us a bit about how you got involved in designing Hulk as well as Abomination
My team brought the project to my attention (having avid comic fans in the studio helps) and I began to see the potential and the challenge in the character. It wasn’t just a green monster we were going after; what I was interested in was the transformation and the release of Banner’s dark side and that struggle between the two. I also hoped I would get a shot at the Abomination as well. Leader was a bonus, too!
How early on were you involved in the process?
I started on this before there was even a script, pretty much right when it was decided to make the movie. [Marvel/Universal] had gone through several iterations internally and needed that push into the real world. I brought grounding to the character that the director, Louis Leterrier, needed to feel the Hulk in the physical world.
There have been many versions of the Hulk to date, from comic books, the first movie, the TV series etc. What design choices were made and was there a main inspiration for the design you came up with?
The inspiration really came from the comics, searching through character’s history and working with the director to find that Hulk everyone wanted to see.
What is the most challenging part redesigning an iconic character that so many people already know?
The challenge was to create the character that was at once familiar yet more intense and physical than we had seen before. That is why we spent so much time with the comics, going through the most intense emotional parts of Hulk’s story as well as every drawing and iteration that had ever existed.
early design..
Can you describe a bit how Hulk evolved from the early designs you did till the final one that ended up in the movie?
I started with a more basic human look but still keeping with the iconic Hulk and it grew from there. After that, I went really over the top to see how far we could push it, and then pulled it back to what you see in the movie.
What kind of tools and workflow did you use in the design process?
I did most if not all my designing using XSI to rough it out then detailing in Zbrush, rendering back in XSI, and finally Photoshop on top of all that. This gives me the most control in dealing with studio notes and vast changes on the fly that the character has to go through before it is approved.
Did you just design the Hulk or you also provided the final model to the post houses that would end up using it for final animation?
I did design the Hulk and the Abomination in 3D; then, after the director was happy with the direction, delivered that to the visual effects house to start building from there. It is a huge asset to the production to have the 1-to-1 model. Not only does it saves the project from reinterpretation, it also saves time and money. The character doesn’t have to be built again.
Abomination looks different than in the comic books, what decisions were made to come up with the design?
The Abomination went many different directions. Some at the beginning were closer to the comic, but everyone felt it didn't make sense to what happening in the movie. They wanting it to look like it was growing from within and the bones and muscle would break through the skin.
early design..
If you compare Abomination and Hulk there is obviously a big contrast. From a design standpoint what is a good approach to distinguish between a hero character and a villain?
It's always different for every project, but for the Hulk and the Abomination the goal was to make the villain seems bigger and meaner than the hero—to really make it look like there is no way the Hulk could win a fight.
Any message you would like to give out to Hulk fans out there?
I know every fan has an idea of their perfect Hulk, so it’s a hard thing to create for everyone because of that big range of “the perfect Hulk”. So I hope it's at least good enough for some of the fans.

10 Smart Ways to Protect Your Computer against Viruses
Virus infection on your computer may cause a very serious damage and even loss on your business. You can just imagine it may wreck your system registry or your entire computer (with all your receivables data on it!) or all your HTML programs! It will come to total black out screen, it will not boot at all. But that is actually the worse scenario that may happen. Are you going to wait for this worse scenario in your life to happen? I guess NOT, right?
Here are the 10 smart ways that I personally do to protect my computers against viruses, malicious dialers and spywares.
(1)If you are using Windows XP, always turn on the firewall.
(2)Always run all necessary latest updates & service packs (all windows! including all your programs & software!---keep them updated)
(3)Run your anti-virus program everyday (some do it every week) There are many virus programs that you can get for free scanning.
(4)Run your anti-spyware/adaware once a week (I run Spybot Search & Destroy & Lavasoft Adware Personal --- they are shareware, meaning it’s free!). What I do is that, I run the Lavasoft Adware first, then run the Spybot Search and Destroy (I also run it with “immunize” tool). These two tools are always on top of my desktop for easy access.
(5)Turn on the pop-up blocker – this feature is available on Windows XP (you can see this under tools>Internet Options >Privacy>click Block Pop Ups. In addition to this, I also download another pop up blocker, the Google Toolbar. I find their pop up blocker the most effective in blocking pop ups.
(6)Never open mails that are suspicious to you or not known to you. If they are in your bulk mail, send it back to your provider as “spam”! I never enable my bulk mail. I automatically delete emails from my bulk mail.
(7)When using messenger (IM) services, be very careful with files being sent through instant messenger. Rather choose to have it emailed it to you. Most of email services now has virus check and clears it if the file has virus or not.
(8)Be very careful when downloading files or any programs from the internet, pay attention on the instructions while downloading it. Downloading may sometimes cause error on the system registry or the entire computer system (one example, my nephew got his computer badly infected with viruses because of heavy downloading of games and music! – I guess!)
(9)Be careful with files that come from a floppy disk or any other external storage when you open it in your CD ROM of floppy drive. You should know its source, or better yet, when you insert it, have it scanned with your anti-virus program before you open the files.
(10)Run defragmentation, disk clean up, registry scanner at least once a week. You can find defragmentation by simply pointing your mouse on drive C: (which is usually the hard disk main logical drive)> right click the mouse>click on properties>click on tools>click on defragment now!
There are so many shareware on the internet that you can get for free! (that is the reason it is a shareware!). Keeping your computer healthy can make you more productive (if you have a business!) or it will make you enjoy more surfing and browsing the internet!
15 Steps to Speed Up Your Computer
Your question, how do I speed up my computer? You get frustrated when your computer is very slow. You can now save yourself from aggravation especially when you are very busy working. I will show you 15 steps to do to speed up your computer.
Let me enumerate them: As I have also mentioned on my previous articles
1. Defrag your computer at least once every two weeks (I do it once a week). Go to start>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter. You can click on "analyze" first before you choose defrag, it will tell you if you need to defrag. Just defrag it even if it reports you don't need to.
2. Do Disk Clean Up at least once every two weeks (again, I do this once a week). Go to start>accessories>system tools>disk clean up. It will analyze your disk and will generate reports. I suggest you delete files from the recycle bin and the files located in the temporary files folder. Note: I avoid compressing files. It's your call.
3. Clean up your program files, delete and uninstall unwanted programs on your computer. Go to control panel>add remove programs. Make sure you restart your computer after uninstalling or removing the program so that complete deletion will take place.
4. Delete all files (temporary files and cookies from the computer). Here's how: open a browser. On top of the browser click on tools>internet options>delete files and then delete cookies. Make your history set to (0). Others wants it on at least 10. I always set mine to (0).
5. You have to be very careful in installing or downloading programs. Make sure you need it, if not please just avoid it. Uninstalling them is really hard. Many vendors has all the power to have their program stay in your computer!
6. Always turn on your firewall. I suggest you have only one firewall and one anti virus. You get less safer if you have two anti virus running (I know people who likes to have two anti virus programs running on their computer, I don't know why.)
7. Run anti-spyware programs. I trust spybot, search and destroy and the Adware from Lavasoft. I run SD every week, I do immunize them before I do the the entire program to run. I run adware every week too after I run spybot search and destroy.
8. Run complete scan using your antivirus software at least everyday (some do it once a week). Mine is scheduled at 3:00am everyday.
9. Avoid multi-tasking too much! Meaning to say, avoid opening too many programs all at the same time running at the task bar.
10. I also suggest you get a dual hard drive (which I know is now common in the market), one for the operating system only and the other for all the programs, database and files. This way, the computer boots on one hard drive.
11. Also check the performance of your computer when connected on the internet. Go to control panel >network and internet connections >network connections >right click the mouse on the connection available (e.g. local area connection "connected", "firewalled")>click on "STATUS". Make sure on the status tab, you will see the speed (mine is always 100 mbps). The packets sent and the packets received must not have a very high difference. If it is sending too much packets (as in ten times) than it receive (then try to do number 7!).
12. Always make sure you install the latest updates on your computer.
13. Always make sure all devices (drivers, etc) are properly functioning. Go to control panel >performance and maintenance >system >hardware >click on DEVICE MANAGER. You will see all the devices and adapters available on your computer. Make sure you don't see a yellow question mark (?) or this means there is an error on that device or adapter. If so, you need to update it or install the right drivers. Updated firmware might also be needed.
14. Browsing the internet? well, I have my google toolbar installed on my computer and is my default search engine. Their pop up blocker is really great!
15. A memory of at least 512 RAM might be a good idea installed on your computer
There you go, 15 steps! Good luck!
Is Overclocking your computer Dangerous?
These days all you hear about overclocking is how dangerous it is and all the scare stories that surround the subject. I often ask people if they have overclock their computer and I always get two answers.
The first one is “What's that?” So obviously those type of people don't even know what it is, let alone if they've done it. The second answer is “Overclocking could blow my computer up, there's no way I going to do that” now this is the response I normally get but the problem is, these people have never attempted to overclock. But what do they know if they've never overclocked before.
Now that's up to them but do they know how much free performance their missing out on? obviously these people have read the all the scare stories and this is why they choose not to overclock their PC. But truth be known and what these people don't know is that this very rarely happens these days for a few reasons. Here's why.
1.The first one is that today's CPU's have improve heatspreaders to help to spread the heat evenly therefore preventing concentrated hotspots on the CPU.
2.Today CPU's ship at a very reserved speed setting. So there's normally plenty of headroom for overclocking. In a way, Intel and AMD kinda expect their chips to be overclocked and so they give them plenty of headroom for overclockers to play around with. Plus it's one of the many deciding factors for hardware reviewer's when reviewing a CPU and of course Intel and AMD want to be seen as the best.
3.Today's PC's have more built in safely features to prevent you from ever damaging your CPU. So as a result making your overclocking crusade safer. 99% of the time if you do push your CPU too far your PC will simply shut down to prevent you from doing any damage to your PC.
End of the day if you do things safely and monitor what your doing you won't damage your CPU. Like I said, today's CPU's are designed to be overclocked so give it go, you might be surprised how much free performance is under the bonnet.
Linux Desktop Memory Solutions for Better Performance
When the physical memory is not sufficient, the feat of the Linux memory will get vulnerable. Memories of different varieties are brought in use in different systems and it is expected from the user concerned to have some knowledge about the memory usage of the system he or she uses.
The function of the Linux memory is very efficient when compared to Windows or Microsoft. The concert of the Linux Memory is thus more efficient in the cutting edge hardware. This has tempted many users to switch to the new version from the old version of Windows 98.
The Linux memory desktop environments have been loaded with many features like increased power. This will work efficiently only when it is added to the new version and if it is added on the older version, the performance of the system will be relatively low. This is proved true in the various new applications and also the web browsers like office suites and fire fox. When this is placed to run on the systems with the capacity of around 128 MB RAM, a bitter experience can be obtained in it.
An easy way can be following to get the solution for the above problem. To start with, the old hardware fitted in the computer has to be removed or else the same has to be upgraded. Or otherwise, a new memory can be purchased and installed. When a person decides to have the system with the Linux memory, he can rest assured for its good performance as the same is having a superior strength in the hardware field.
The first thing that has to be taken into consideration is the operating system’s presentation and the memory capacity present in the system. Some of the systems may possess a very fast processor and the same cannot be performed to the fullest extent thus leading to the partial utilization of the processor.
In some cases the CPU will not be functioning continuously and thus take rest and also waste the time in shuffling of data between the physical memory and the swap space. So it is better to increase the speed and the memory capacity of the system in turn to increase the overall performance of the old system. This may not be successful in all the systems because of the varied reasons. They are speed of the RAM, availability of free slots etc. It may not be worthy to spend the money on some systems which are considered as very old ones.
When the old system doesn’t allow upgrading, the next option is to reduce the requirement of RAM to enable the system to work healthier. In toto, it is advisable to change the system itself if there is no room available for enhancement. Thus the end user of the system has to take the correct decision on the enhancement of the system or replacement of the system. Improper decision will ruin the system completely.

Five Things You Need to Know to Successfully Sell Your Art Online
The Internet has become an indispensable tool for artists. With the click of a button, art enthusiasts around the world can view your artwork. But before you begin posting your images on the web, there are five important things you should know. The following is a guide to effectively selling your art online.
1. Where to Exhibit – There are thousands of online galleries, so how do you decide which ones are best? Do your research. You need to find out how much they charge in fees or commission, what services they offer, if the gallery is curated, what type of marketing efforts they participate in, and most importantly, how much art they sell. Some of these questions can probably be answered right on the gallery’s website, while others will require a phone call or email. Their contact information should be easily visible on the site. If not, that should raise a red flag. By contacting them, you are also testing their customer service. See how knowledgeable they are on the phone, or send them an email and see how quickly they respond. Overall, you want to determine that they are working hard to promote the art they display, and not just making money off of signup fees and advertisements on the site.
2. Approaching a Gallery – When you are ready to put your art on a site, there are two things you need: great images of your work and an artist’s statement. Most online galleries are not curated, which means that anyone with a paintbrush and money to cover the signup fees can post their art. Be cautious of these sites. Instead, you want to apply to a gallery that has reputable curators who oversee the quality and direction. This is where great images and a statement are crucial; they represent everything about you and your art, and make it much easier for the gallery to see what you do. Once accepted to the gallery, these things will also be important for customers, who will be able to see your art clearly and understand it. As a result, they will be more likely to make a purchase.
3. Professionalism – Throughout this whole process, professionalism is key. You must respond promptly to emails and phone calls, do what you say you are going to do, and be conscious of small things like typos in your artist’s statement. Above all, you need to know your work. If you are a photographer, than you need to be an expert about everything related to your camera and prints. Are these pieces in a limited or unlimited edition? How many prints in the edition? Signed and numbered? To truly be a successful photographer or painter or anything else, you have to know your trade. Professionalism will show your gallery and customers that you are a serious artist worth their representation and money.
4. Pricing – Pricing your art can be one of the most difficult aspects of being an artist. Your prices should be based on the size, medium, and complexity of the piece, and your sales and exhibition history. If the only work you have sold has been to your family, or you have never sold anything, you need to start low. It may be less than you want in the beginning, but that is how you work your way up. If you throw a $10,000 dollar price tag on your first painting for sale, it’s probably never going to sell. Start with a couple hundred dollars and if the first pieces sell quickly you can raise your prices a bit; a ten to 15 percent raise is considered standard gallery practice. One important thing to remember is that you should almost never discount your art if it’s not selling. It makes collectors very unhappy, and it can devalue your whole portfolio. If someone buys a piece from you for $1,000, and then later you lower the price of a comparable piece to $500 because it isn’t selling, in effect you’ve just decreased the value of the first piece to $500 as well. Galleries and buyers will catch onto this and keep away; no one wants to put their money into a risky investment. Start low, be patient, and the right buyer will comes along.
5. Personal Websites and eBay – We’ve talked about online galleries, but what about creating a personal website? Selling your art on a personal site is difficult. The reason you pay signup fees or a commission to an online gallery is to handle things like building an e-commerce site, pursue marketing opportunities, and fostering relationships with customers. Having the time and resources to do this yourself is rare. eBay is even more dicey than a personal site. Although the customer base is there, it is somewhat of a black eye to the art world. Forgers go there en masse to offload knockoff paintings. Beyond that, you are probably not going to build a proper sales history that you can take to a physical gallery selling your art this way, which should be your goal.
Do your research, find a gallery that works hard for you, be professional and realistic, and your chances of being successful will increase infinitely. Once you build a sales history online, it will be that much easier to approach physical galleries. And the best part is, you can use these same five points.

Electronic Component Supplier of Australia
Electronic components form parts of electronic circuitry, and are used or manufactured in the field of electronics, which is the study of electrical devices used for controlling electrically charged particles or the flow of electrons to execute any electrical operation.
‘Electronic component’ is one of the most searched terms after ‘consumer goods’. The upward development of the electronic component industry is the result of change in the lifestyle of people. There is hardly any house nowadays which doesn't have a TV. The medical, military, aerospace, telecommunication, and the automotive industries always rely on electronic components. These industries strictly rely on manufacturers that must produce and carefully assemble customized machine parts for their use.
We live in a day and age where technology is advancing almost at the speed of light. Every time you turn the television or radio on there is a new advertisement for a new product or technology that is guaranteed to make your life easier or more fun to live. Even gadgets and technologies that you bought last year are being replaced with newer and fancier models carrying advanced features that will improve the use of your current ones.
If you're looking for electronic components for almost any type of device or machine, look no further than the Internet. The market trend is that everyone would search online for electronic components. This gives them the chance to evaluate and analyze the components from different perspectives. Another thing that draws customers to online search engines is that within a few minutes they can check out a wide range and types of products.
Buying parts through a supplier is usually a bit safer than purchasing through a distributor because a supplier knows more about compliance issues. That's helpful when you're looking for electronics and you might not have every single detail that you need about the component that you're looking for. Suppliers often have more knowledge about which part works with which devices or what machines or appliances. This can give you peace of mind while ordering.
Radio Parts Group, one of the leading electronic component suppliers of Australia offers the best quality electronic components like wireless audio video transmitter, portable DVD players, LCD TV’s, cordless headphones, digital headset microphones, car TV antennas, CCTV security system equipments, wireless AV senders and much more at incredible prices. "Digital Printing The Famous" , Why Digital Printing?
There’s no doubt about it, digital printing has established itself as the most convenient and high-quality printing solution nowadays. Indeed, many printing companies have made digital printing available in their lists of printing services. A printing company in fact, won’t have a complete line of print services if they don’t include digital printing in their business.
With the present technology, digital printing has become the most popular choice when printing collaterals for any business. Not only is it convenient, it produces high-quality standard print jobs even in smaller quantities. A printing company can help small and medium industries to work according to their needs without having to deplete their resources.
Nevertheless, printing companies can also increase its speed on digital printing when higher quantities are needed. The good news is that you don’t also pay that much because when you print in more quantities, the more economical you get with your printing process. Hence, it is ideal when you need to update constantly the information in your print collaterals.
Digital printing offer many benefits. It can be your best bet for printing when you don’t need to produce color variations, press proofing, requires no film, and the set up time is minimal. It can be applied directly to the paper stock and even up to the edge of your sheet. Hence, it helps you produce less wastage, which means bigger savings for your finances. Digital printing is also perfect for custom printing and print-on-demand.
The initial set up cost is minimal as the equipment used when digital printing is not complex. In fact, the equipment is comparatively less in cost. Just ask any printing company and they will tell you that having digital printing as their method is efficient and economical.
Businesses who are thinking of providing their target clients with stand out marketing collaterals can also benefit from digital printing. The method can offer to print design from across any discipline, without having to restrict the flexibility and effectiveness of the collaterals. So you don’t have to worry if you have avant garde graphics and ingenious layouts. Digital printing can print your designs however artistic and innovative you are in your marketing campaign.
Digital printing is also the ideal printing method if you’re an avid environmentalist. The technique uses less water, dyes and solutions, so you don’t have to worry that you’re adding to the slow yet steady ruin of Mother Nature.
The best part of digital printing is that it actually saves you a lot of money. The turnaround period is short – with print jobs finished in 2 to 3 days max – which allows you to save on energy, costs and time. All in all, a significant decrease indeed in your overall expenses.
So the next time you’re looking for printing companies to produce your marketing collaterals, think of the process instead. Think of digital printing. Think of how you can save on costs without having to put up with mediocre results for your business.

'Fast and Furious 4' Movie review

Hot girls, hotter cars, hot guys and some hot action... Fast and Furious 4 is a visual treat in every sense. If you are a speed junkie and love to watch heart pounding racing, this fourth instalment from the Fast and Furious franchise is a thrilling joy-ride. Needless to say thinking is not what you ought to do while watching this high-octane action-thriller.
As a breath of fresh air, Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, the four famous faces of The Fast and the Furious (2001) reteam for the franchise’s fourth instalment. The presence of these actors is what makes this film way better than its second and third instalment.
Dom (Vin Diesel, a fugitive, ex con) and Brian (Walker, an undercover cop) are forced to confront each other after they find they are chasing the same culprit. Their chase and revenge forms the story of F & F 4.
For those who have not seen the 2001 film, here’s a quick recap.
Brian (an undercover cop) insinuates himself into the circle of Dom and his street-racing gang years back as he suspects Dom of being involved in illegal activities. He befriends Dom’s gang but when it comes to serving his duty, he sorts of ‘betrays’ the gang according to Dom. Since then, Dom thinks Brian unworthy of trust and friendship. The two go their separate ways.
Cut to today, Dom’s lover Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) gets assassinated and the search of her killer forces Dom to confront Brian as he being a Fed (a cop in FBI) needs to track down the same culprit. Will the two be able to bury the hatchet and bring their common enemy down?
The film is all about loud music, fast cars, dare-devil stunts, interesting dialogues and adrenaline driven races. This genre normally attracts teenagers but surprisingly it keeps you too on the edge of your seats. The story is clichéd and so is the action but it is the actors that make the difference.
Vin Diesel is convincing and Walker impressive. The ladies too make their presence feel.
Do not think much about the plot or the reasoning and you will not be disappointed. Watch this film only for its special effects and EQ – entertainment quotient.

Spam Contributes to global warming !

We knew that spam e-mails drained our time, resources, and productivity, but apparently spam is also contributing to global warming. Security-technology company, McAfee, and the technology-research company, ICF International, have just released a joint study that claims that the 62 trillion spam e-mails sent in 2008 generated approximately 33 terawatt hours (TWh) of energy per year.
To put that in perspective, the study states that is the "equivalent to the electricity used in 2.4 million homes in the United States, with the same GHG [greenhouse gas] emissions as 3.1 million passenger cars using two billion United States gallons of gasoline." ICF claims that this adds up to the equivalent of 17 million metric tons of CO2, which accounts for 0.2-percent of the global CO2 emissions.
The study calculated spam's estimated carbon footprint, by analyzing the energy consumption used in the different activities related to spam, which include:
* Harvesting addresses
* Creating spam campaigns
* Sending spam from zombies and mail servers
* Transmitting spam from sender to receiver via the Internet
* Processing of spam by incoming mail servers
* Storing messages
* Viewing and deleting spam
* Filtering spam and searching for false positives
Credit: McAfee
Even though these activities are evenly split between sending and receiving spam e-mails, the study estimates that the majority of the energy consumed related to spam activities--about 80-percent--"comes from end-users deleting spam and searching for legitimate email (false positives)." The ICF estimates that a "legitimate" e-mail generates the equivalent of 4 grams of CO2, while a spam message emits only about the equivalent of 0.3 grams of CO2. That might not seem like a lot--especially when you consider than a legitimate e-mail generates more than 13-times the equivalent of CO2 as spam. However, once you consider how much spam there is, it adds up very quickly:
"The average GHG emission associated with a single spam message is 0.3 grams of CO2. That's like driving three feet (one meter); but when multiplied by the yearly volume of spam, it is equivalent to driving around the earth 1.6 million times."
Credit: McAfee
When the McColo ISP was taken offline last November, this resulted in a 70-percent global drop in spam. ICF estimates that this amounted to the equivalent of "taking 2.2 million passenger vehicles off the road." Unfortunately, since then spam levels have started to rise again, and its estimated that quantity of spam has returned back to the levels we were seeing before the McColo ISP takedown.
Of course, even fighting spam consumes energy: "approximately 5.5 billion KWh annually or about 16 percent of overall spam energy use." The alterative, however, is much worse. In fact, the study estimates that current levels of spam filtering saves about 135TWh of energy per year; and it further states if "every inbox were protected by a state-of-the-art spam filter," roughly 75-percent of the energy consumed by spam could be reduced--"that's equivalent to taking 2.3 million cars off the road."
Installing AMD Drivers on Windows Vista

Vista is far more advanced than the Windows systems that came before it. It offers more power, enhanced stability, and ease of use once you grow familiar with the environment. Just like XP, adding hardware devices to Vista is as simple as a plug-and-play procedure. After you connect devices to a computer, the operating system detects the new hardware and installs the appropriate device drivers.
However, there may come a time when you need to manually install device drivers because they are not already installed on the operating system. For example, you may want to install an AMD motherboard on your computer. In order for it to function, you would also need to install the appropriate AMD drivers.
How to Start Installation
As with any hardware, you should follow the provided instructions when installing an AMD device. After making sure all the connections are properly seated, turn on your PC and let the operating system boot up. If the device isn’t recognized, it might not be a certified Windows Vista component. In this case, you should be presented with a display prompt asking that you manually select the type of software you want to install. This calls for you to insert the installation drive that accompanied the AMD hardware into your CD/DVD drive.
From here, simply follow the instructions on the screen, as each step will walk you through the installation process. Keep in mind that some AMD devices require multiple drivers. If this is the case, you will be instructed to install each one. However, if the AMD device is recognized, the new hardware should be automatically detected and take you through the setup process.
Performing a Manual Installation of AMD Device Drivers
There are times when Vista will not offer to automatically install the AMD device drivers, meaning you will have to install them manually. On such an occasion, head to the Control Panel and select the “Device Manager.” Locate the appropriate AMD device and right-click it. Next, select “Update Driver Software.” Assuming that you have the installation disk that came with the hardware, choose the option that browses your computer for the driver and select the appropriate location.
Once the AMD drivers are installed, you may want to check to see if there is an updated version. This can also be done from the Device Manager utility. Right-click on the AMD device and choose “Properties.” Next, click “Update Driver” and select the option that allows you to automatically search the internet for updated device drivers. If a driver is found, you will be prompted to perform the installation. If not, a message will be displayed stating that you currently have the most recent driver available for the device.
Whether you are installing new drivers for AMD hardware or any other device, it is important to make sure you choose a version that is compatible with your operating system. Although some drivers are universal and compatible with all systems, others are specific to certain platforms. Choosing the correct drivers is essential, as installing the wrong one could stir up major problems.

Chat To Text is an awesome new application that allows you to get text messages from your friends on Facebook, Bebo, and MySpace. This is the world's first application that allows anyone you want, to chat with you through from virtually anywhere on the internet, straight to your cell phone.
Chat To Text is a truly VIRAL application and you'll soon see and hear most of the network marketers talking about it on Facebook. It is expanding to other social networks besides the sites listed earlier, and also can now be installed on all your websites and blogs.
Facebook Chat to Text is coming back better than before. It is a very unique business model that allows you to make money using ChatToText by referring other facebook members to your website. Facebook has just joined the fraternity of social networks that pay it's members for it's use by launching a new application which takes instant messenging to a whole new level.
All that is great, but for anyone wanting to make recurring income online this is a totally great deal.
First off, you'll make $2/month from anyone you refer who signs up, plus 25 cents per sign up from anyone they refer down nine levels. That may not seem like a lot at first but believe me it is. If everyone refers only 3 people each down nine levels, you can possibly make over $7k per month.
